My new tattoo
02 Jul 2009 by Sofi -- 6 Comments
If you read my blog, or have read through the info I've gave you guys about me on this site, you'll know that I love bodymodifications - mainly ink tattoos and piercings. From my few previous blogs you might also know that I was anxiously waiting for my payday, which finally arrived two days ago - and if we combine my love for bodymods and my bank account suddenly gaining weight, what do we get?

We get my new tattoo! I definitely want to get a lot of tattoos done someday, although I'm a baby and I can't stand much pain... Yesterday Tommi & I went to the Itäkeskus shopping center to go eat at a buffet at Thai Palace (best buffet I've ever been to!) and after we ate, we realized we had around two hours of time before meeting Erkka & Julia and going to the Rastila forest to have fun, so we went down to Duck's Tattoo to see if they had an open spot for today. They did, and I got my long-term tattoo goal done for 70€. Here it is!

I'm sorry for the super-crappy photo, cellphone camera quality... It's on the inside my left arm, around 5-10cm up from my wrist. At first I thought I'd get it on my wrist, but then decided it'd be better for future jobs and such to get it in a place I can easily hide. My skin looks weird 'cause the tattoo has lotion on it. A bit of reliable explanation on the symbol, from Wikipedia:

"The exact meaning of Aum has been variable throughout time and dependent on culture. Accepted definitions have ranged from very simple alternatives for other words (such as "truth," "lord," or "praise") to highly complex definitions. Some accepted definitions include:

The eternal process of birth, life, death and rebirth, and life incarnate. The Aum is the Universal symbol of Creation. Its four parts represent the four stages of consciousness: Awake, sleeping, dreaming, and the transcendental state.

The sacred syllable of creation, the Word that went forth in the beginning and from which all other sounds originated.

Unity between all people, creatures, and things.

The symbol can generally be viewed as one or more of these things, dependent on context."

Also, google "chakra" for more. Chakras are, basically, energy spots in your body that control the way you use certain parts of your mental & physical skills, and the om is the highest chakra, it's located on the top of your head, it's colour is purple and it represents, among other things, your intelligence and your connection to the universe. It's all really cool, you should definitely check this shit out.

Another reason for me to get this specific tattoo on this specific spot is that my dad has the same one. He had it done by a friend in his early 20's, so it's all blue and old now, and mine is definitely cuter, haha! Oh and also, out plans for Ibiza failed, there's no time to plan & no money to go. Boo!

What do you think of my new tattoo?
Got any tattoo plans for right now?
If already inked, do you reckon tattoos actually hurt?

Raving in a cave

EDIT // I've been a busy bee today! First off, a new layout featuring the ultra sexy Megan Fox. I just might change this pretty quickly, I mainly just wanted a darker look and the font that Etta got me fall in love with! I also made a new LiveJournal, which I'll use as a bit more personal online diary than the blog I've got here. If you feel I trust you enough, come add me!

This weekend's been awesome - on Friday we basically just hung around at the flat, not doing much, chilling and so. Yesterday we went to an island, which is owned by the family of a friend of mine, and we made pizza and went to the sauna and swam. I also bought myself a new bikini, but I don't have a picture of it right now. Bah.

So continuing about yesterday, at around 2am we arrived at a certain part of a forest and went inside a certain cave and attended a cave rave. It was awesome, I've actually never been to a proper rave before, we baked and danced until 4am and it was amazing. The DJ's were genius, I swear, and I had a lot of fun during the evening. I've even got a picture of what it looked like:

Crappy, and with a cellphone camera, but it gives you an idea of where we were and how awesome it was. The walk back was horror though, my feet were hurting like hell and the walk back to sleep took about an hour. But it was fun all the same, I really enjoyed this weekend. Also, we've got a very still-not-sure-about-this sorta plan with Julia & Erkka, we might be going to Ibiza in late july/early august for a week or so. I really hope we manage to actually go! Also, I've only got two more days of work left, and I couldn't be happier. Finally, finally, I start my vacation!

PS, lately I've categorized all my entries under "life". Maybe I should blog about something else for a change? 8D

What's the most amazing party you've been to?
Ever been to a rave? Want to go?

This is where I live

Most of you may know that I love photography - I love many different kinds of visual arts, but photography is definitely my favourite, both looking at what other people do with their camera and trying to generate beautiful pictures myself. I'm very amateur and although my camera is of 13.6 megapixel, it's not a very professional one. Mainly I just love to take photos of nature & people I find beautiful in some way because I enjoy visual beauty and capturing it, even if just for my own pleasure.

The boyfriend & I have spent the past two days at my place, watching ~15 episodes of season 2 of the X-Files on DVD, and yesterday we went for a walk along the "beach" here in the part of Helsinki I live in, Katajanokka. I love this part of the town 'cause it's sort of cut off from the rest of Helsinki, no one comes here unless they have purpose to come specificly here, 'cause you can't pass through to anywhere. It's quiet and it's beautiful, and I can see the sea from my bedroom window. I grabbed my camera for the walk and took photos of the nature I see every day. Here's that I got:

What's your favourite thing about the part of town you live in?

Live music makes my soul sing
19 Jun 2009 by Sofi -- 6 Comments
I honestly cannot believe I stopped going to gigs. In 2004-2005 I would see several gigs a month - I used to follow a bunch of Finnish bans and since I live in Helsinki, the capital, there's always something going on. We'd wait in line for hours and hours, a few times the whole night before, to get to front row on the floor. When I grew out of my fangirl phase I kind of grew out of the gig thing as well. WHICH SUCKS! I forgot how amazing gigs really are!

So I teamed up with Jere & Judy and we went to Nosturi. Axl Smith, a VJ for the Finnish MTV, started the night as a DJ and played some dance songs, after which The Giant Leap played their 5-7 song set. As a band I find them kind of boring - the music is nothing special and their show was dull. We hung out at the bar, drank a few and talked. When Metro Station came to the stage, and we saw the whole crowd start jumping, and the band was full of energy - I grabbed my bag and the three of us started running downstairs, to the floor. Judy grabbed my hand, Jere grabbed hers, and I made our way closer to the stage, to the very middle of this sweaty, jumping, shouting crowd. I've missed that so much! We danced, jumped, screamed, sang and went insane on the floor - I love that about gigs, I love not being able to breathe well and having people push you around and having just enough room to jump up and down and bang your limbs around. The gig was awesome, I heard Metro Station was good on stage but I didn't know they were that good. I only have one picture related to this evening - an outfit picture.

I was wearing ballerina flats, and my feet were full of bruises, small scars and footsteps when we left. Our makeup was on our cheeks from sweating so much and my hair was partly soaking wet. It was the most fun I've had in ages. I gotta start going to gigs more, man! They're well worth the money.

Afterwards we went to Ale Pub, a bar near the railway station - I actually haven't been to a bar since my 18th birthday in January, 'cause I never seem to have the money or the company. Ale had happy hour until 4am, which means pints were 1,5€ and blueberry shots were 3€. We drank more, went to the dance floor and raved to the best DJ ever - he/she/it played a lot of 90's dance songs, including 'Dr Jones' by Aqua, 'Calcutta' by Dr Bombay and 'Max don't have sex with your ex' by E-rotic. I arrived at my bf's place at around 1:30 am, went to sleep and woke up a while ago - we watched South Park from this website. I'm tired but ecstatic.

What's the best concert you've been to?
What's the longest time you've waited in line to get to front row?

I've got a pet bunny...
15 Jun 2009 by Sofi -- 4 Comments
...called Tommi! I find it weird how I actually don't blog about my boyfriend, Tommi, much - we've been together since Feb 2006 (that's 3 years, 4 months and counting!) and as I see him basically every day, he's a pretty big part of my life. So, as he's basically never featured on this blog - and when he is, he's just mentioned when talking about something else - I'll tell you a bit about him.

First of all, I almost never call him Tommi. Bunny is my most common nickname for him, and he calls me his kitty. I also call him several finnish pet names that could be translated to words like baby, babe, honey, sweetie, cupcake, love, darling, honeybunny and so on. I also love calling him amore, which would be the italian word for love. I know. We're gross.

Tommi's about 7 months younger than me - he'll be turning 18 this September. We met, haha, online (!!) on the day I turned 15, Jan 2006. We only met a few times before we decided we'd give our relationship a shot. Even though we were really fast, I wouldn't change a thing.

The upper picture is the most recent picture I've got of him - I took it a few weeks ago. I gave him that hoodie o, and I also pierced his lip in 2006 - he's still got it! He also used to have long, blonde hair, but he cut it short and dyed it a bit darker. I love it, I think it's way better than the long hair! He's been talking about growing it long again and then getting dreadlocks - I'm all up for it, I have to admit. Tommi's really down to earth, he's your picture-book hippie boy, and I find it adorable. He doesn't really care for things, he hates materialism and he's got a heart full of gold. On our first anniversary we got engaged - but not to be wed, but to be together. I'm not baptized, and neither of us can stand religion, so the rings really weren't a promise of marriage, but more like a token of our love, a promise of being together. Besides, it's easier to get sleazebags off your back if you've got a ring to prove you're not single.

Basically the past 3+ years have been the happiest of my short life. I could say all this corny stuff like "he makes me whole", "I love him more than anything else in the world" and "I can't live without him" - and I do say these things, but if I truly had to define Tommi in one phrace, I'd go for "without you I'm nothing" (it's a song by Placebo) and say it proudly. We always get shit for having such a grown relationship at our age, but I can't help it. He's the only person in the world who I'm free around, I'm not embarrassed about my feelings, I'm not ashamed of my body. He makes me feel naked, but in a good way - I know he loves me, for me, and even if I throw fits or cry he's still there to hold me.

My favourite thing to do with Tommi (okay, second favourite...) is watching TV shows on DVD. I'm not sure where, when & why we picked up the habit, but we munch seasons and seasons of TV shows on DVD. I always prefer watching shows on DVD - there's no commercial breaks, and I decide when I want to see the episodes. No waiting! Altogether Tommi & I have watched all six seasons of Oz, both seasons of Twin Peaks, seasons 1-6 of CSI, seasons 1-3 of House, season 1 of X-Files (which reminds me, gotta buy season 2 soon...), season 1 or Roswell, seasons 1-11 of The Simpsons, all four seasons of Futurama, and right now we're watching Skins all over again, we're halfway through season 1 now. I really enjoy cuddling and watching good TV shows with him, just the two of us.

So there you go, a short info on the love of my life. The following questions are all about relationships, so answer as you please - ex, current or future partner, haha!

In relationships, do you enjoy being together a lot & seeing each other a lot, or do you prefer to have a lot of your own space?
What's your favourite thing to do with your partner?
If you could define your partner & your feelings for them in one phrace, what would it be?
